TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT

Launching a new Commercial, Industrial, or Utility Solar + Storage project? Is your group considering a site or questioning the project’s technical viability? We have guided clients through these questions many times for various project sizes and have the processes in place to navigate this discovery phase in a timely and cost-effective manner.

ELECTRICAL DESIGN

PV AMPS is a multistate Licensed Electrical Engineering firm. We assist clients with Electrical Design and Engineer of Record services. PV AMPS has the electrical engineering know-how to facilitate Electrical Permit Packages for Community and Commercial projects between 10 MW and 0.5 MW, in over 25 states in the Continental U.S.

PERFORMANCE TESTING

Performance Testing is often critical to prove the system performs as expected and before the owner will make final payment and commercial operation is obtained. We work with you from project launch through final performance test verification.

NEC 691.6 EE PLAN REVIEW

We provide plan review services for electrical solar design packages to comply with the requirements of NEC 691.6 for projects over 5 MWac. As projects get larger and more complex the NEC is requiring AHJ to have solar fields inspected by independent licensed engineers. As a multi-state licensed electrical firm we review plans across the country. We also offer independent plan review services to keep projects coordinated and reduce risks for EPC and Owners.

NEC 691.7 FIELD INVESTIGATIONS

For sites over 5MW NEC 691.7 requires the inspection of the site by a licensed PE to certify to the AHJ that the project has been built to plans. Depending on system size this can be a single or multiple visits across the project span. In addition to required inspections, PV AMPS also performs field investigations to assist the EPC with coordination issues or evaluate the condition of the asset for owners.

PV AMPS prides ourselves on being known as “Engineers in Boots.”

CERTIFICATIONS

Depending on the project size and the interconnection utility, a variety of certifications are required. Acting as your Independent Engineer, PV AMPS can assist you by providing the following certifications: Mechanical Completion, Commercial Operation, and Yearly Site Operational Readiness.

OPTIMIZE

ASSET INTELLIGENCE

We work with owners, asset managers, and O&M teams to analyze the data of operational assets, confirming data integrity and if the data can be trusted before making changes to O&M plans. Once you can trust your data, we evaluate plant production and provide corrective maintenance recommendations to maximize performance. Too much money is at stake to make an O&M decision with unvalidated data you don’t trust.

DAS & MET ASSESSMENTS

Do you think your system is under-performing? Your meteorological sensors may be lying to you. It may be as simple as your sensors being out of alignment with the modules or they were installed in a way that impacts the measurement. Having the measurements reflect the site conditions is a critical step in preparing for performance testing or making O&M decisions. PV AMPS can validate and recommission the site sensors so you can make good decisions.

(RE) HABILITATION

As solar power assets age, the equipment can break and degrade, operation contracts expire and systems fall under their performance goals. We investigate the current conditions and create an assessment report with recommendations to rehabilitate the site and work up design options to repair or upgrade the asset.
